The holiday season brings many opportunities to come together, and this year our church’s Christmas cookie walk fundraiser was a shining example of community spirit in action. What started as a simple idea to raise funds quickly turned into a heartwarming event filled with laughter, generosity, and, of course, delicious cookies. This post shares photos of the many cookie types that were offered.

What Is a Christmas Cookie Walk and Why We Do It
A Christmas cookie walk is a festive fundraiser where participants can purchase a box or bag and fill it with a variety of homemade cookies from a large selection. Instead of buying pre-packed boxes, shoppers get to choose their favorites, making it a fun and interactive way to support a cause.
Our church hosts this event annually to raise funds for community outreach programs, including local food banks and youth activities. The cookie walk not only helps raise money but also brings people together, creating a joyful atmosphere where neighbors connect and share holiday cheer.
The Heart Behind the Cookies: Bakers, Planners, and Volunteers
The success of the cookie walk depended on the dedication of many individuals. Over 30 bakers from our congregation and community contributed dozens of cookie varieties, from classic sugar cookies to gingerbread and peppermint bark. Each batch was made with care, often passed down through family recipes.
Behind the scenes, a small team of volunteers planned every detail. They coordinated baking schedules, organized cookie drop-off times, and decorated the church hall to create a warm, inviting space. On the day of the event, volunteers set up tables, arranged cookies by type, and helped customers fill their boxes.
One volunteer, shared, “Baking for this event feels like giving a gift twice—once when I bake and again when I see the smiles on people’s faces as they pick their cookies.”
Whether you’re a baker, volunteer, or participant, the cookie walk reminds us that the best gifts come from the heart. We look forward to next year’s event and the new stories it will bring.
